The hot water that fills the Taisho Jiogku marsh sometimes drains away. The new hot water that floods into the marsh after this is clear at first, and then it gradually changes color to blue, white, pink, gray and black.
This process is due to the changes in the ingraedients dissovbled in the hot water.
